Resoul ("we") values the privacy of your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you use this website, in accordance with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO).
1. Data we collect
- Gentle listener chat: the text you enter in the AI chat. We recommend entering it anonymously — please do not include your real name, phone, address, payment details or full medical history.
- Comments: when you comment on a Care Journal article or Remember Their Story, the alias, message and (if any) photo you provide are stored in our Supabase database and shown after review; we do not store your real identity or email.
- Order data: when you shop for keepsakes, payment and delivery details are collected and processed by a third-party secure checkout service; our website never handles your credit card details.
- Booking data: when you submit an online cremation or euthanasia booking, the name, contact number, pet details and related information you provide are stored in our back-office (Supabase) and a Google Sheet, for the purpose of contacting you and arranging the service.
- Device & browsing data: some preferences (such as dark mode and quiet mode) are saved on your device via browser localStorage and are not sent to us.
2. How we use data
- To provide emotional companionship, content browsing, comments and shopping features;
- To respond to your enquiries and service needs;
- To maintain website security and prevent abuse;
- To fulfil relevant obligations where required by law.
3. Third-party services
To provide our services, we use the following third-party platforms; your relevant data is processed under their respective privacy policies:
- Google (Gemini): processes AI chat content to generate responses;
- Google (Sheets): stores data submitted through the booking forms;
- Supabase: stores booking records, and comments and photos from the wall and articles;
- Third-party store and checkout platform: handles store products, orders and checkout payments;
- Vercel: website hosting.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties, nor use it for purposes unrelated to this service.
4. Data retention & security
We retain data only for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes above, and take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect it. However, transmission over the internet cannot be guaranteed to be absolutely secure.
5. Your rights
Under the PDPO, you have the right to request access to and correction of the personal data we hold about you, or to request its deletion. For order and comment data, you may also use the relevant platform tools. To exercise your rights, please contact us via the details below.
